The Johns family Christmas tree is the kind that is filled with memories. I don’t do color coordination or anything fancy, but every year we buy a new ornament or two that reflects the year before.

This year, I found a couple of new ornaments that I just love! The first one is for my husband–an avocado. He loves avocados, and I bring them home as a treat for him when I grocery shop, so I got a smile out of him when I came home with this one.

The Star Trek shuttle craft is one I found a couple of years ago, and I snapped it up. I’m the Trekkie of the family, still doing my best to win my husband over to Star Trek fandom. It’s been fifteen years, but I haven’t give up yet. šŸ˜‰

For my son, I found a Minecraft figurine. I was informed when I brought it home that it was cute, and he did like Minecraft a lot LAST year, but this year it was Roblox. So… oops.

And peeking out behind the Minecraft pig is Spiderman from a couple of years ago. šŸ™‚

I love having ornaments that remind us of the things we enjoyed over the years. One of these Christmases, my son will be all grown up, and Mr. Johns and I will be a little plumper and a little grayer, and these will be even more precious.

For the longest time, I wanted a wreath for our front door, but spending $100 per wreath, per season, just seemed so expensive. And then there the was the question of where you’d store all those wreaths when not in use! So I didn’t get around to it.

But then I visited a craft store, and realized that if you get a grapevine wreath and decorate it differently each season, you can do it at a fraction of the price! Plus, you don’t have to store 4-5 wreaths in your home–it’s the just the one on the door, and you swap out the decorations on it.

So I present to you, our Christmas wreath!

The leaves are leftover from the fall decoration, and I liked them, so I kept them. And I added in the red berries and pinecones.

I like it! It makes the apartment feel so much more welcoming… to no one but the Amazon delivery people and Mr. Johns, but still… It’s the thought, right?

So if you’ve ever pined for a wreath, this is an economic/storage-friendly way to do it!

I hope you are all staying safe and healthy this holiday season. Take care of each other out there! ā¤

A Precious Christmas Gift, christmas romance, cover vs cover, His Holiday Prayer, inspirational romance, love inspired

Harlequin does these social media ads where they compare one cover with another and ask readers to vote on which one they like more, and yes, it’s as stressful as it sounds to see who likes yours!

But I do love it when Harlequin uses my cover for these–there is just something so “official” about a release when my book is chosen for ad material.

My book, A PRECIOUS CHRISTMAS GIFT will be on the shelves with Tina Racliffe’s HIS HOLIDAY PRAYER starting mid-November. Cowboys and puppies, and little Amish babies… I hope you’ll pick up both of them!

The holidays are fast approaching, and I don’t know about you, but I could use a little Christmas right about now.

So keep an eye out for these releases hitting shelves in a couple of weeks! ā¤

I stumbled across the GORGEOUS cover for the second book in my Second Chance Club miniseries. These are the stories of the women of the Second Chance Dinner Club–women who’ve all experienced painful divorces, and who support each other as they find new love and happiness again.

On a personal note, I love these stories! The heroines are 40-ish, their lives are complicated, and the love they find the second time around is toe-curling and worth the wait!

I hope you’ll fall in love all over again right along with single mom, Jen Taylor, new owner of an old mansion that just needs a little renovation to become a stunning art gallery. And she needs it liveable by Christmas.

Nick Bryant is her contractor, and he’s incredibly skilled. But her focus has to be on her son, and while she’s ready to take a few chances as she puts her new life together, she isn’t willing to risk her heart…

But there is something about the Christmas season, isn’t there?

Can the magic of the season…

Bring opposites together?

Don’t change for a relationship. That’s contractor Nick Bryant’s motto. But when single mom Jen Taylor hires him to renovate her old mansion, he wants to impress her. Nick knows Jen’s focus is her son, and she’ll never want a man who wields a hammer instead of a Harvard degree. But as they prepare her home for Christmas, he can’t help wishing for a moment under the mistletoe!

This book hits the virtual shelves October 2020!Ā

Harlequin is using my book for a Christmas ad campaign! Whenever my cover gets picked for something like this, it’s so exciting, especially when it’s going to be in Women’s World Magazine, to boot! It really makes it all feel real. From December 4-10, 60 Christmas backlist books are going on sale for $1.99 each. Very exciting!

That I’m married!

I saw this writing prompt, and it made me laugh, because I know what they were aiming at–a list of advice for keeping you happy, for understanding your moods… But that wasn’t what popped into my mind.

Now, don’t get me wrong–I don’t get hit on by people other than my husband very often, but when it does happen, I ticks me off. (And there have been a couple of recent ones that primed the pump for this post! LOL!)

I’m the kind of woman who gets offended when people, who know I’m married, hit on me. I don’t like it! I wear a very obvious wedding ring, and when I took my vows to my husband, I meant them. If you’re hitting on me, you’re disrespecting my marriage, my decisions for my life, my husband, and… I don’t know, I’m sure a whole list of other things. You’re disrespecting ME!

Whens someone hits on me, they’re hoping to break up the life I’ve worked nearly fifteen years to build! They might not want me to leave my husband (some people just want something on the side), but they want me to risk my marriage and my home. They want me to betray the man I love, and offer my body in exchange for… the ecstasies they figure they can provide without fifteen years of practice? Dream on. So what advice would I give to someone falling in love with me?

That I’m very, very married. šŸ˜‰

In Her Triplets’ Mistletoe Dad, Gabby only finds out that her boyfriend is married after she discovers she’s pregnant… and she’s both heartbroken and furious. She had no intention of being the other woman in someone else’s marriage, and she goes home to raise her boys alone. Except, she need more help than she anticipates… and her old friend Seth isn’t about to let her struggle alone.

But what makes for a lasting marriage? Is it just a promise, or something more that makes keeping that promise possible?

I do hope you’ll pick up a copy of this one! It’s one of my favourites!

I’m a Christmas person. I just love the holidays! In Canada, our Thanksgiving comes in October, so once Halloween is past, we’re good to go for Christmas!

This year, I put off putting up the tree until we were about a week into November, but then I couldn’t hold my 9-year-old back any longer, and we put up all our decorations. Since we have snow outside already, it just feels appropriate.

I’m also one of those really early Christmas shoppers, because I like to get my shopping done without pressure. I also have gifts to mail to my parents, so I need to be timely if I’m going to get everything to the post office on time.

IMG_3589

That’s why I picked up this year’s wrapping paper already–and I really like it! These Christmas trappings just make me happy. I enjoy this time of year–the run up to Christmas! I don’t let it get stressful because we stick to a budget and make time for the things that matter to us most–cookies, Christmas movies, carols playing in the background… The good stuff.

Anyone else enjoy the Christmas preamble? Or does it all just stress you out?Ā

(I do have two Christmas novels coming out this month and December! So I thought I’d leave a couple of links for you…)

What do think? šŸ™‚ Do you love it, too?
